When life feels stagnant and you feel like you have lost your identity or have been estranged from your path. Follow the basic 8-letter rule of ‘SELF- CARE’
S - Self-care.
This is quite important, start your self-development by honouring yourself. They say the body is the temple of God, it is written in various holy scriptures in almost all religions that there is a higher power and God resides in us. It is like our higher self. One should keep their body or temple clean and take care of themselves. Start with a skincare routine, learn or do something you love.
E - Explore options.
Don’t restrict your ability and learning to only one thing. You have a lot of potentials, tap into those gifts of yours. You may think that you are comfortable with what you do but don’t stop yourself from learning, from trying new things, from experiencing new things. You will live only once, you should be able to look back and know you lived life to your full potential.
L - Love Life.
As they say, ‘ Live in the moment’, that means we need to fulfil our day like it is our last. Don’t concentrate on the past or future. Don’t take steps backwards but love ahead in life, work towards self- development rather than self-fulfilment.
F - Forget current achievements.
It is okay to appreciate your achievements at the moment but later on, it will be just a memory, think forward, move forward. Remember that adrenaline you felt when you got a trophy work towards being in a similar moment again. It will give you the motivation and drive to learn and develop physically and mentally.
C - Clean your litter.
Basic rules for self-development starts from organisation and cleanliness. This is not only a physical organisation but also mental. Throw out toxic habits, shed those leaves that are holding you back from growing into the beautiful person you are meant to be. Sometimes it is when you forget what all you have learnt than you find who you truly are and where you belong. Tidy your workspace, take a detox, etc.
A - Administer and plan your development.
Decide what you need to sacrifice in order to reach your goals. What are you willing to learn or unlearn? Apply your skills in the right way and where your efforts are taking you. Some people have a 5-year plan where they decide where they want to be in life and in which career or position. Though before that try and make a calendar you can follow or a deadline you have to meet. Challenge yourself daily to either try something new or learn something new.
R - Reflection time.
Sometimes working towards one thing makes your soul die inside with no creative outlet for yourself. Try the Mind, Body and Soul rule which I started and use myself. Every day when you wake up to do something which will stimulate your brain, read a book or take a course. Body, keep your body moving to let the blood flow, it is healthy. Exercising or yoga or even dancing to get your heart pumping. Soul, try some meditation to calm your soul, this will help you relax, get better sleep and even help your body and mind perform better.
E - Experience.
Experiencing new things or places. Think outside the box. Do not be afraid to risk things or go on adventures. It is what makes exciting stories to tell later on and endless memories. Travelling to new places invigorates a person, meeting new people will help you understand different cultures and perspectives. I had been to Ladakh with my friend and cousin last year and I saw breathtaking sights. I met the monks who also invited us for lunch which is a big deal. It was one of the best experiences of my life.
So, remember ‘SELF- CARE’ and get ready for a life in self-development and personal growth.
